There are three practical ways to get ServiceNow data into Power BI, and we choose based on your instance and refresh needs — not a one-size template. The Table API is the most direct: Power BI queries ServiceNow tables (incident, change, cmdb_ci, sc_task and the rest) on a schedule. IntegrationHub and scheduled export patterns suit larger volumes or where you want ServiceNow to push rather than Power BI to pull. Refresh, scheduling and security
We authenticate with a service principal, not a personal ServiceNow login that expires when someone leaves — so the pipeline keeps running. Refresh runs on a schedule you set (hourly through daily depending on how live the dashboards need to be), and we apply row-level security in Power BI so a regional manager sees their queue and leadership sees everything. This is the governance layer that makes the difference between a demo and something you can actually roll out.
