Google's 2024-2025 Looker pricing restructure made mid-market licences significantly more expensive. Looker Platform tiers are priced for enterprise — most 50-500 person companies are paying for scale they don't use. Power BI Pro is $10/user/month.
LookML requires a developer to change anything. Power BI's semantic model is accessible to a broader team — data analysts, finance, and ops can work in the model without engineering tickets. Less dependency, faster iteration.
Power BI lives inside Microsoft 365. If your team already runs Entra ID, Azure, Teams, and SharePoint, Power BI authentication and deployment is near-zero config. Looker requires separate auth and infrastructure.
